The Cradle of the Gods received another 5 star review on Amazon! They said they couldn’t wait for the next book. It feels good to finally say, “it’s coming soon!”
Wow, saying that feels really good. I get to take a deep breath and let it soak in for a moment. For those who have been patiently waiting and even for those who have not been so patient, you know who you are, I hope to have the book through final edits and out in February. I still need to create the obligatory map and sort out a cover, but it is finished.
One of the main critiques with The Cradle of the Gods was it was not long enough at just over two hundred pages. I’m happy to say that The Time of the Stonechosen, the second book in the Soulstone Prophecy Series is over twice as long. I’m really excited and looking forward to sharing it.
In the meantime, I plan to share some tidbits from book two and updates on where things are as we lead up to the release.
What is it about fantasy that calls to some of us? The weather here has turned towards winter and brought the darker rainy days with it. I’m at home in my favorite robe and my favorite chair. I’m fighting the pressure from a head cold along with the pressure of NaNoWriMo. I’m streaming a Skyrim Radio Station as I work on “The Time of the Stonechosen” and find the combination really makes me yearn to lose myself in fantastical realms.
Misty Mountains is playing now and I can hear the creak of well oiled leather as the straps are tightened and the clink of the metal rings as the mail coat settles heavy on my shoulders. <sigh>
I know I’m not alone in occasionally hearing that call. Well, back to writing before this cold medicine wears off.
Been neglecting this page and the blog for a while. But, with good cause. I have been plugging away at the next book in the Soulstone Prophecy series, The Time of the Stonechosen. It is over 70K words and going strong. I am revising previous chapters as I move forward with the rough draft, so though it is taking longer than book one, it is bigger and it should be revised and through the beta readers soon after I complete it. I’m really enjoying where Ghile Stonechosen is taking me and cannot wait to share the next part of his journey with you.
Cara’s Twelve is a well written, well thought out coming-of-age fantasy with a little bit of everything: romance, intrigue, action, drama, and suspense. The protagonist, Cara, is a young strong-willed character who I found easy to identify with. The writing style is comfortable and flows well. The setting well defined and the characters believable. At first, I was surprised by the detail in the intimate scenes, but soon found they only added to the story and to Cara’s growth. As a reader of fantasy, the subtle use of magic, in the way of foretelling, drew me in and gave the world depth. I particularly enjoyed the ending and found myself wanting more.
The first promotion of The Cradle of the Gods is going well. Traffic on the blog and Facebook page is way up. As a way of saying thank you and to prove I’m actually working on the second book, The Time of the Stonechosen, here is a link to the first two chapters for your reading pleasure. I know it isn’t the same as the second book, but I’m working on it, honest!
Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you think. Better yet, leave a review of the book on Amazon before I’m forced to buy a review from some dude in a third world country who thinks my book is “The best dream I’ve read this a few years ago.”
A big “Thank You!” to those who are sharing out these posts, it really helps, um and its fun! Try it.

I had a wonderful afternoon visiting with the children of Assets School on Oahu. They invited me to come speak as a guest author about my book, The Cradle of the Gods. I really enjoyed sharing my experiences of writing and self publishing. They asked some great questions and really impressed me. Two copies of the book were donated to their library and the sign out sheet was filling up when I left. Thanks, Kids. What a great way to end this holiday on a high note!
